Kehlsteinhaus sits on the top of Kehlstein mountain, at 1834 meters above sea level. The house is also known as the Eagle's nest and it was built in 1938 as a birthday gift for one of the most notorious persons of the 20th century. Today, it houses a restaurant from which numerous tourists enjoy the magnificent view of the Alps, Königssee, Salzburg and the surroundings. We climbed to the top during the night and got the sunrise all to ourselves. It was a cold July morning, but the light, silence and the view were worth it.
