"Sing to me Paolo!" . . All Lizzie McGuire references aside, I spent a majority of college studying the Colosseum, so I was awed to see it in person for the first time. Even though its history is quite horrific, there is beauty when visiting this Roman amphitheater. Anyone down for the ghost tour next time?
Today we've went fishing at a nearby river. It was my first time ever doing something like that. I was pretty curious about it, because people are loosing more and more respect for the death of animals just to satisfy the desire of meat and fish. The problem starts at the supermarket, where you can buy a whole chickenbreast for the same price as two cans of coke. I really wanted to do this kind of experience, because I really try to eat less animal-based products to stop supporting factory farming. (and if I do: just from companies and farms I am sure of decent and foster animal welfare)... But even then, I've never seen this little beings in their living form. So back to today: I've went fishing with my friends to broaden my horizons. But in the end I've catched nothing but Seaweed. I was a bit dissapointed but then David yanked something out.. It was a medium sized fish... I was standing next to him, when he slammed the hammer onto the fishes head until it was dead... there was even a little bit of blood on my hand, spread onto it from the punch. It really broke my heart. I knew it would be hard to end up a life of something with heart and soul... But in the end I really had tears in my eyes and was about to cry... but it was my decision and I couldn't undo it. This evening I've prepared and grilled the fish and we ate it with a lot of vegetables. The tadte of the fish was amazing, but still it feels very strange. After this day I won't stop eating meat and fish... but I think everybody should make this experience to remember what it means to buy meat for dumping prices....
