Re-reading this classic. Love these first lines, their purposeful description: . "The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone. She was very old, though she did not know it, and she was no longer the careless color of sea foam, but rather the color of snow falling on a moonlit night. But her eyes were still clear and unwearied, and she still moved like a shadow on the sea." . And more loveliness from the second paragraph: . "...the mane that fell almost to the middle of her back was as soft as dandelion fluff and as fine as cirrus...and the long horn above her eyes shone and shivered with its own seashell light even in the deepest midnight. She had killed dragons with it, and healed a king whose poisoned wound would not close, and knocked down ripe chestnuts for bear cubs." . Eager to dive into 📝writing 📝 . . #writing#getwriting#reading#kidlit#thelastunicorn#mg#picturebooks#chapterbooks#amwriting#writer#fantasy#specfic#wornbooks#readingbettersourwriting#books
I started a #bookstagram , feel free to follow by book adventures there!#repost @shell_reads with @repostapp ・・・ I recently received #Menagerie by #RachelVincet from a friend. I devoured it in less than two days. 📚Published by #MiraBooks , an imprint of @harlequinbooks, Menagerie tells the tale of a young woman named Delilah who believes herself to be the embodiment of normal, until she finds out that the exact opposite is true. 📚 Rachel Vincent flawlessly weaves the theme of inclusiveness, righteousness and justice in a similar world to our own, enriched further by dark, urban-fantasy elements. 📚 I truly recommend this book if you enjoyed #AmericanGods or vertigo's #Fable comics. #bookstagram#recentlyread#ya#specfic#darkfantasy#teenbooks

The foundations are set and all the teaching has been completed, movement takes time, understanding how you move in the gym is very important to how you want to develop your body and for what specific goals number one being injury reduction as it cannot be prevented but you can decrease your chances by adding the correct exercises to help stabilise and strength areas that are most likely to be injuryed in a a long season ahead.. Hamstrings, groins being the two biggest when it comes to Gaelic from most studies. So more work needs to be directed at the hips and how we control them in order to strength them in a sports specific manner. We tested last week on rep Max's with body weight % all of the guys are lifting heavier but that's the easy part, the hard part is the grind between learning and gaining the foundations then to produce it with a well designed number game to keep the cycle moving forward and hitting the correct accessory work to help increase the athletic development of the individual, with volume work or more rehab/ sport specific single limb work. Really am enjoying working with the Gaelic guys. The next step is on you guys now. #gaelic#gaelicfooty#latenights#programing#strength#specfic#workloads#deloads#powermovements#strengthratios#rehabwork#injuryreducation @gaelictrainingassist @gaelicplayers @shanemcgahon @eoinmcgahon @aaronkerrigan15 @blainecarlin @paddyhargan @freddie_mc1 @stephenfarren_
I love tales of dread that don't always rely on jump scare tactics. I love tales of dread that are insidious like a cold hand that just grabs your ankle while you're asleep. Waking, the shock of terror consumes your whole being, never ceases even when you expect that the sun's rising brings you surcease from its wave of torment. And yet it stays. To be remembered in moments of aloneness, in silence, in darkness. Some horrors can never be truly vanquished. That's the same susceptibility I experienced reading story after story from All That Darkness Allows, an anthology of thirteen tales of horror and dread. More than its share of thrills, I was much more tremulous with excitement by how the writers tackled the theme of fear—both old and new ones—infusing dread with a fearsome bite, the novelty of it is quite darkly tantalizing. Call it remarkable synchronicity or what have you, a number of these stories deal with characters facing crossroads and making choices that dare to ask how much wickedness can one confront, take in, before one reaches the breaking point. Truth to tell, some horrors can never be vanquished.
