After a running since a while I couldn't do due an injury. I restarted and was fantastic with a carribean breeze on my face and the first sunlight rays giving me all the energy it's indescribable 🌞!!!. My reward was this ultra yummy sapote or mamey smoothie. Sapote is an amazing tropical fruit you can find it in Central America and South America. The name probably comes from the aztec tzapotl, a general term applied to all soft, sweet fruits. The pulp of mature fruits is salmon pink, orange or reddish-brown in color, soft and smooth to finely granular in texture, usually low in fiber. The pulp has a sweet, almond-like, unique flavor and sweet taste like a combination of pumpkin, chocolate or akin to a mixture of sweet potato, avocado and honey 🍯. So....it's been big news this week that we should be aiming for 10 fruit & veg a day, not 5. 🤔😫 Don't beat yourself up mums and dads if you are feeling you aren't feeding your kids enough healthy foods. It's a tough enough gig being a parent. 😤 BUT if you want to aim for more and it's important to you, there are some quick wins and easy ways to up your kids fruit & veg intake. Smoothies are a great way. 💚 We were way off our 10 a day yesterday so I thought let's start of right today with a spinach, banana and almond milk smoothie. 💚👍🌿. Back to the 10 a day research - inevitably the media jumped on it and its created a big debate and hopefully there may be some more clearer guidelines that come from this. As it is, it's probably left many people feeling they're failing and also not having a clue how to hit 10 a day. 😳😢. Should the focus be on getting people up to 5 a day (considering only 2/5 currently manage that)? Or is putting it high at 10 a day going to help encourage people to at least think they just get to 5? 🤔Personally, I aim for 10 a day (3 fruit, 7 veg) but I know how easy it is not to get them in. My kids usually hit 5 - they have no problem with lots of fruit so I have to encourage more veg. 🌿🌿🌿. SMOOTHIE RECIPE. 🌿. 2 frozen bananas (or unfrozen), 4 handfuls spinach, almond milk, 3 dried dates, 1 tbsp ground flax & hemp protein (optional).
