When I say "Hiking Saved My Life" I don't expect anyone to understand why I say that. Hiking came into my life at a time when I had truly given up hope on everything in life, I was in one of the worst states of depression I've ever been in, and I just didnt want to keep on living. I'm not the typical "Hiker" people expect to see on a trail, a mountain, or in this case on a trail at Smith Rock, I'm not thin and fit like most hikers, I am a bigger girl who has found something I truly love doing rather than working out in a gym all the time. Hiking is my therapy. There are times I want to give up, there are times I want to cry on a hike, and there are times I wish I didnt start a hike to begin with because of nasty comments or rude looks while I'm hiking, but no matter what I push through it and I make it through every hike I start. When I hike there is a lot that goes through my mind and sometimes I may look like I'm dying (I probably am lol) but those times are usually when I'm lost deep in thought and sometimes I'm fighting back tears because I am proud of how far I've come in a year. Every step I take is a stepping stone and every hike I conquer is another accomplishment in my life. Pushing through something when so many are against you is one of the hardest challenges I've faced, but passing a "hater" on a trail and seeing their shocked face is what keeps me motivated to prove that everyone starts somewhere and not everyone's journey is the same. Today was hard and kicked my ass but I couldn't be happier and I feel so refreshed. I love hiking and the joy it brings. Day 25 💜 #SelfLoveBootCamp ☺️ . Today is the last #embracethesquish day in this round of the Self Love Boot Camp 😐 And I found myself surprised this morning when I took this and I felt like I looked disgusting and horrible in the photo. I kept taking more photos and none of them felt right. Of course I take multiple photos usually but usually I at least like one of them. This morning not so much. And that's why I waited so long to post this. Because I wasn't sure how I felt 😕 But challenging myself and my ED voice is important and I won't miss my last chance to post an squishy photo during the bootcamp just because my ED voice says I'm not worthy of it. I would encourage every one of you to post a photo so I'm taking my own advice and doing it. 😬 . So, here's my squishy, fat, loveable belly served with a side of courage and self love 💪🏾💕 . We are all worth sooooo much more than that little voice inside our head tells us. Just because my body might not fit the societal norm doesn't make me any less valuable. Yesterday was one of those days I had to force myself to get to the gym. Felt blah all day...until I started working out! Felt much better after ☺️ RESISTANCE BANDS‼️: If you've been following me or my other page @ashh_bash for some time now then you know how much I LOVE incorporating resistance bands into my workouts. I HIGHLY recommend getting your own if you don't already have a set. I bought a set of 3 different resistance levels off of amazon. But you do whatever you prefer. 📍Super basic with the warm up, 12 reps each back to back 3 times. Last year I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder. I opted not to be doped up on meds and to use alternate methods of coping including exercise. Although it helps tremedously it also triggers my anxiety. My workouts tend to leave me in a paralytic state but I push through. Cant do what I'd like but I definitely do what I can plus a bit more since they're watching me...13lbs down and counting. SN: my baby hair is doing stuff. Golden hour with @ilikechike and @swelllife ✨💪🏼☀️ I know I post about finding workouts you enjoy and finding what works with your schedule. And this is true, but the other truth is that in the beginning you may just not enjoy it all the time. If you are just getting started working out and eating healthy, it's a lifestyle change. Working out is hard. Eating right is hard. Turning down ice cream (sometimes) is hard. BUT it gets easier. Like anything you just have to break your old habits and develop new ones. This takes time. You kinda gotta push over the hump before it becomes more enjoyable. This is why goal and intention setting is so important to me. It will get hard. There will be a day you are tired, busy, or sore. You have to do it anyways. You will not feel motivated at all times. But if you have goals set and a meaningful intention in mind, it will be easier for you to push through. We all need something to be working towards; whether that's just a healthier lifestyle to feel good and have more energy or it's a size pants you want to wear. CONSISTENCY is key. You cannot be sporadic about anything and expect to progress very far in it. All of this goes for not only fitness but other goals you may have too. Set goals, figure out your plan of action, and go for it. Push through when it gets hard. The only bad workout...Is the one you didn't do. 💪🏻😃 This mantra gets me to press play on those "I'm tired" days. EVERYTIME! I worked in the baby class today. Loved every minute with those 15 babies, but let me tell you, it's a whole different kind of day and tiredness level. Plus..I was on a different lunch break then my girls and had to sweat it out alone. Talk about low motivation! Inhaled my pre workout and gave it my best shot. Wasnt too shabby..and I felt great after! 🤗 . 🌟Day 2🌟 in the books. Extremely excited to see my results at the end of 21 days. Just in time to roll in my 30th birthday! Made a goal to be the best me, body mind and soul & I'm on a great road to get there! I got 4 girls right now rocking their challenge! Showing up every day, putting in the work and keeping each other accountable. That specific group is presently full BUT I'm looking for 10 other ladies who want to end this summer fiercely. Man o so didn't want to workout tonight. I mean I had all the excuses going through my head as to why I didn't have to workout tonight. But I knew me not working out tonight that wasn't going to make me better. It wasn't going to help me get to where I want to be. It wasn't going to help me lose the weight I gained on my vacation. So I pushed through my excuses and guess what? I really liked the program I did tonight. It was awesome. One of my favourite ones yet in this new program I'm doing. 💪🏼👊🏼💪🏼
As many of you know, I started SHIFT SHOP last week (day 9 whoop!! 😁) and I'm blown away by the mental aspect. This program is amazing at pushing you to believe in yourself when you feel like you can't do it anymore and you're exhausted. Everyone has more to offer than what's on the surface, dig deep, find that thing in you to make you take one extra step, to push yourself when you want to give up. 🏋With each rep push away your fears and grab your goals.
