Intrigued with how great bench felt yesterday. Hit 135 for 3x2 after cleans and drop snatch balance.  Powerlifting and weightlifting are both mental in different ways. Benching a plate has always been sort of a mental thing for me, but yesterday I surprised myself with how fast these went compared to how they've been in the past. Maybe all of this overhead work will make my bench slightly less poverty 😍  Finished with some pull-ups for sets of 5. Lunch Macros: 30P/47C/17F 🔸It's funny because in college I used to LIVE off of Rotini pasta with Parmesan cheese and butter. I would eat that for dinner, go to the bar, come home at 2am and eat it again as a drunken snack 😂  Before #flexibledieting , I wrote off pasta as "unhealthy" and "bad". What I love most about now living a flexible lifestyle is that I can include things like pasta with butter and cheese daily and not stress about it. It's not bad or unhealthy. It's a carb and with all of this lifting I NEED carbs to grow, recover and fuel my training.  The difference? I don't eat a box at a time, use half a container of cheese and I'm not drunkenly shoveling it in. I now measure out my portions and track my intake using @my.macros (search fitgirlmoves to follow me). You don't have to give up foods that you enjoy to reach your goals, just make the adequate portions fit within your day🙌🏼 #MyMacros #iifym #PassionNeverFails

I packed only a few things in this vintage "Tiara" American Tourist bag (xmas nifty gift from my momma), and just went for it!  Brought along the pup, she stayed a hotel, and in a few short days I'll be taking her on a plane for the first time ever.  So far 2017 has had adventure, anxiety, and lots of firsts! FS max is 215#, did my last set of 6 at 180# today followed by some jerks at 48kg.  Eating lots of food is fun. Getting stronger is fun. Learning new things is also fun. None of which I would have ever done if I didn't take a step outside of my comfort zone. Before powerlifting, I used to "coast" through my gym sessions never really pushing it hard enough to grow or progress. A few tips to get strong: -Train at submaximal weights. Maxing out ALL the time can be really hard on the body, but at the same time make sure you're going heavy enough and getting enough volume in. -Learn your MRV (maximum recoverable volume) or the optimal amount of volume your body can personally handle. Not always overreaching but enough to progress. -Focus on recovery. Take deloads and rest days as you feel necessary. Stretch, mobilize, and prehab. -Track your progress in a training log! Both pretty humbling 😀  I only do direct core work as shown once per week however with that said compound movements like squats, deadlifts, snatch and cleans that I do 4X per week all utilize the core muscles aka #abs 👌🏼 There was a time when I didn't do ANY core work, or any beneficial accessory work for that matter. @gleasonperformance programs me a lot of single-leg movements, core work and exercises like this OHP from squat and not only do I enjoy it more, but it really helps my lifts and makes me FEEL GOOD. I am super dedicated , determined and motivated and when I see something I want or like I put 100% effort into it . Yes I may be vulgar some of the times , but that doesn't take away from my loyalty or respect . Yes I post pictures sometimes in more revealing clothes but doesn't mean I don't respect myself . I had to repost this because I couldn't have said it better myself. And because I suck at taking progress pics, so I don't have my own photos to show. I'm not gonna lie, as a female, gaining weight and being ok with it is a huge mental struggle, but it's people like @fitgirlmoves that remind me that our bodies are beautiful in all forms. Looking shredded is ok, but doing amazing things with your body is way cooler! Flashback to 2011 when I wouldn't leave my house without wearing my heart rate monitor, ran 40-50 miles per week, lifted zero weights and ate whatever I wanted because "I ran earlier so it's fine". Fast forward to today. A powerlifting (newbie weightlifting), 2800 calorie eating machine. I do cardio when I'm in the mood (it's been weeks), I eat 325g of carbs per day and I could care less about being shredded for the first time in my life. My body does amazing  things like squat just under 300lbs and deadlift 374lbs. I can do pull-ups and I'm enjoying every aspect of life. I don't say no to homemade cookies anymore but I also eat 130 grams of protein and veggies at every meal. I'm not gonna lie, as a female, gaining weight and being ok with it is a huge mental struggle, but it's people like @fitgirlmoves that remind me that our bodies are beautiful in all forms. Looking shredded is ok, but doing amazing things with your body is way cooler! Flashback to 2011 when I wouldn't leave my house without wearing my heart rate monitor, ran 40-50 miles per week, lifted zero weights and ate whatever I wanted because "I ran earlier so it's fine". Fast forward to today. A powerlifting (newbie weightlifting), 2800 calorie eating machine. I do cardio when I'm in the mood (it's been weeks), I eat 325g of carbs per day and I could care less about being shredded for the first time in my life. My body does amazing things like squat just under 300lbs and deadlift 374lbs. I can do pull-ups and I'm enjoying every aspect of life. I don't say no to homemade cookies anymore but I also eat 130 grams of protein and veggies at every meal. Most of my accessory work is piled into one day just because that's what works for my schedule right now. These are two of my favorites that @gleasonperformance programmed this time around •Prone behind the neck press to improve the overhead position. I worked up to the 5kg bar - this one is a LOT harder than it looks and requires both mobility and stability to perform properly. •Plank plate switches- moving a stack of five 5# plates back and forth twice through for 4 sets. Also a LOT harder than it looks.  I love the main lifts but accessory movements are key to build up the main lifts and focus on weaknesses 👌🏼 Fav leggings: @virusintl #PassionNeverFails #TeamGPT #accessorywork

Start by literally writing down your goals. I do this in my planner weekly for my smaller goals, but always keep the big ones written down too. Make it real & write it down.  Underneath each goal, write some steps you can start taking in order to get closer to it. Leave some blank space also as you will figure out more steps along the way.  Finally, ACT on the words you have written down. Yes, you made it official by writing it down, but make it happen by using action. #PassioNeverFails

I'm here to tell you that they're not.  2017 was a huge year of growth for me not just physically, but mentally. I dedicated myself to learning as much as I could, I attended my first national meet, and most importantly I truly, 100% put being lean and shredded behind me by eating in a true surplus for the first time ever. Performance in the gym took full priority over trying to stay somewhat lean.  2016 was a year of growth, and as I continue to grow in 2017 my focus is starting off a lot different than where I was a year ago. There are two days left for you to set a plan, and chase those BHAGs. Last workout in Ny! Due to all the walking, lack of sleep (totally worth it😀) and the need to be at 9 for checking out I did a full body workout using some of the equipment the gym has and I hadn't try ever. Always nice to get out of the routine and just mix things up randomly from time to time. Still my workout had a purpose and logic, mixing a push, a pull, a squat pattern, a deadlift pattern and a core exercise:  repeat 4 times:  All 12 reps  Incline DB press  DB chest supported row  Bulgarian split squat goblet hold  Single leg RDL Hollow hold 20"  Then 3 rounds of 20 all  Assisted pull ups  One arm standing military press V squat machine (liked this one, never tried it before :)) Cable pull through  Extended plank 20"  Just 1' rest between rounds no rest between exercises.
