The important thing to note here is that the muscles that plug into the forearm not only move the wrist but ALSO the fingers AND thumb 💣. That means that if you are stretching only from your wrist - I’m sorry to inform you that you are leaving performance on the table⁉️ . Hold this pad boy for 30sec-1min. Are your hip flexors tighter than your budget on the day before payday? Do you have hip the mobility of a frozen brick? When you pass away, will they ask your family to use your hip flexors to develop a new kind of bullet proof vest? If you're like me and you answered yes to all three of those, then you have to get to fixing that problem. Tight hip flexors rob you of a lot of performance because they create a pull that stops you from reaching an extended arch type position. The pull they create prevents you from getting the powerful hip extension you need to reach that arch. That means you jump lower, run slower, you can't bridge as well, your in greater danger of lower back pain, and let's not even get started on how not being able to arch affects your bedroom conditioning sessions. Being able to stretch and extend your hips is important to so many movements that not having it is a lot of movements lost for no reason. Even worse is most people's hips are tight because of excessive sitting such as behind a desk or a car. Eight hour work days means tight hips all around. This is a stretch we learned from Kit Laughlin. We used to use the diagonal stretch and still do when we can't do this one, but any time we can do this one, we choose it instead. It provides a much more powerful and deep stretch of the hip flexors because the other person provides the weight you need to get into the range. You can see instant results after a few sets of this if you do a bridge after or even try walking. One of my favorite things to do is do a few sets of these after leg days and combine it with a forward fold type stretch. Mix them together and you can arch and fold and you have most of the mobility you will ever want 👊😃
