Now that our home has been dairy, grain, legume, and sugar free for almost two months, its crazy for me to think of going back to how we used to eat. While I feel that we were really health-conscious before, I'm now so aware of how much "little" junk used to sneak its way into our day to day. Whether junk in our protein powder, coffee creamer, condiments, etc it was kind of everywhere. Grateful for deciding to step out on a #whole30 journey. It's been more transformative than I first realized. 🙌🏼 Now onto this food! Basically, its turkey tacos on top of baked sweet potato. So, like, taco bowls, yes? Bonus! Totally snuck zucchini in there. Mostly to avoid cooking a side dish, but we will pretend I was just really concerned about upping the nutrient content of my dinner! 😂 . Here's the scoop on the tacos: . 🌮1 lb extra lean ground turkey 🌮2 tbsp of taco seasoning (homemade preferably) 🌮1/2 cup of your fav salsa 🌮2 zucchini grated 🌮1/2 onion chopped 🌮1 red pepper diced 🌮1 TBSP coconut oil . Add oil to the pan (I made this up in my Dutch oven) over medium heat. Add onion and red pepper. Cook for a couple of minutes. Add turkey meat. When nearly cooked through, add taco seasoning. Stir to combine. Add zucchini and salsa. Stir again. Bring to a simmer. Turn burner to low and place lid on pan. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes (Or, skip this altogether if you're in a rush. Just be sure that turkey is cooked through.) . Open a baked sweet potato and scoop taco filling on top. . Ta da! I totally remember when I began this journey I didn't think at home workout videos could do it for me, I didn't think I'd push myself hard enough - clearly I was wrong. . when I began this journey I just felt lost, I knew what I should be doing - but I couldn't stay consistent, no matter what I tried. Let’s talk about the benefits of WATER. Water is the second most popular beverage in the U.S. after soft drinks. This is a scary stat, since sugary soda is a huge health hazard, upping the risk of obesity, stroke, and other heart problems. When I started my health journey this last time around (so try number 4?) I knew I needed something to work. I needed something to make sense. I was tired of failing. ▫ But when I looked really hard at myself and the decisions I was making I relaized I wasn't failing, I was giving up. ▫ Every time things got tough, or I faced a wall, I just threw in the towel. How did I ever expect to succeed? But I made the choice once again to get back up. To not allow failure to be the end.

Happy Tasty Tuesday! Although Valentines day is over.. and I am sure you have had enough chocolate to feed a village.. this three layer dessert is guilt FREE. I assure you, since of course, I have almost finished a batch 🙊!I would like to call these the -- TRIPLE THREAT PB & RASPBERRY CUPS--they are refined sugar free, BUT are sweet AND creamy enough to hit that sweet tooth craving! They even have some added protein, making them a great post workout treat idea!🙌🏻Recipe as follows -- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries; 3 tsp honey; 1/4 cup cocoa butter; 1/4 cup peanut butter + 2 tsp honey; 1/2 cup coconut oil; 3 tbsp. cocoa powder; 4 pieces dark chocolate (80% or higher)- you can opt. out of this and JUST use coconut and cocoa with some stevia; 2-3tbsp. protein powder (I used @myinteractive) -- let the raspberries de- thaw and add some honey, then smooch with a fork, place mix into a mold, melt the coconut butter and let it cool, then add it on top of the raspberry's. Place into the freezer for up to an hour or until frozen. Place pb into a bowl with the honey and protein then mix well. Place the pb on top of the raspberry & cocoa butter, once it is frozen. Place the mold back into the freezer for another hour. Once the pb mix is frozen, place coconut oil, cocoa powder and chocolate, into a pot, and let it melt. Let the mix cool and add it on top of the other ingredients. Place into the freezer for another hour or two and BAM. goodness! 🤗-- I advise you to let the treat de-thaw a little bit before consuming! SO much creamier! After Pilates and a big walk I was famished and looking for a healthy lunch full of protein and vitamins. Fish such as Salmon is a favourite protein of mine as it is easily digestible and rich in Omega 3. I try to buy responsibly sourced WILD fish (as opposed to farmed fish). Today I used a Wild Pacific Sockeye Boneless Salmon fillet which is a vivid, bright red colour and has a firmer, flakier texture to traditional Salmon. A wild diet gives this fish a very rich flavour and contributes to the very red colour of the flesh inside. To make: 1. Sautée 1 chopped leek, handful of green kale and fresh coriander, 1/2 chopped onion and 2 chopped garlic cloves in the skillet with 1 tablespoon coconut oil and a pinch of Himalayan or Celtic sea salt. I also added Organic Broccoli sprouts but this is optional. 2. In a separate pan on medium heat, add 1 teaspoon coconut oil and the salmon fillet (skin down first). Cook approx 5 minutes each side then add to your bed of greens. 3. Serve with 1/2 avocado and drizzle with lemon, raw apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper! 4. I can't believe I missed out on last weekends pizza buffet! I really hope they do that event very soon because I will starve myself all day just to do some damage in this restaurant lol! Hakin this creation was genius!! I can't believe people still don't want to be vegan with all these delicious foods that's there to offer! No suffering, no pain, Real Food! I quite often used this excuse "I just don't have time" Being a mum & wife running around doing all that adult stuff left me feeling burnt out, stressed, at times broken. I was passionate about health and wellness, but at the time I felt "too busy" to take care of my own health. This led to me burning out, feeling fatigued and really unwell. Now today I can look back and be super proud of the example I'm leaving for my kids and family about self care. The past 4 days I've been running around a bit as my husband has been in hospital and have been juggling the kids. Dispute the lack of sleep I've had, in feeling quite amazing actually! I've not been able to get out to this gym this week, but I've made my health a priority and have worked out from home, eaten right and taken care of myself. Without doing all this, I wouldn't have been able to function or get through the last few days! That I can promise you. Please mummas, take some time out for you. Cereal - to most it's a household staple, but did you know that the average bowl contains 3 sugars cubes (12grams)?! @who recommend an adult should eat no more than 6tsps a day to avoid major health risks, so why are we feeding children half that amount before they even leave the house?! With obesity, #type2diabetes and tooth decay in infant teeth on the rise, we need to address this issue right now.
