Dinner! Reunited with one of my favourite comfort foods.. the humble Indian homemade dosa with a peanut chutney on the side .. would've liked to have had this earlier.. dinner was late tonight.. one of the key factors to a healthy digestion is finishing dinner latest by 8 o'clock & try not to consume anything after, until breakfast next morning..except for herbal teas & water.. this gives room for all your food to be digested before bedtime & you wake up feeling light & refreshed as opposed to uneasy & bloated.. Get into a habit of eating before 8:00pm.. remember the earlier, the better:) To your health! X #dosa#dinner
It's been a while since I blogged, I took a break by and large because the whole experience was becoming an increasingly large source of negativity in my life. The irony of feeling bad about things I was writing and how often or not I should be writing, when my blog was supposed to be a source of freedom for me. It turned from a labour of love to a labour of dislike. I am a wife, mom, stepmom, I work full time and run a company with my husband. I am overweight, i'm tired and I don't always have time to eat healthy and workout. I am generally very busy and the last thing I want to do is try and be the type of writer that I'm not. I've come up mentally with so much content but I've tried writing and it's not really happening at the moment so I'm going to microblog on this platform and see where things go from here!
Threw all the bits left over in my fridge into this salad and turned out pretty delish (if I do say so myself🤓) This baby includes: spinach, cucumber, tomato, carrot, feta, jalapeños, pita bread, falafels, pomegranate and hummus.
I have a bit of a problem of trying to do too much, which gets me really stressed out. Traveling to Portland was so fun- I woke up each day thinking "what do I want to do today? Should I try a new restaurant? Read my book in a coffee shop?" Etc. My newest personal goal is carving out more time for myself, treating one day per week like I'm on vacation (and then if I feel up for it, I can tackle a project like organization, an article, etc). Lately I've been throwing some of my responsibilities to the wind (sorry, you know who you are if this has affected you), and I'm truly not better or worse off in my career, but simply more rested and happier. This past Sunday I was itching to organize, but other than that, deliciously stayed in bed snuggling my pup til almost noon, went out to lunch, finished the last few pages in my book, and got a facial. It was pretty glorious not to agonize over errands and "things I should or could be doing." And I feel more ready to get back into the swing of taking on more projects. This Brazilian Bowl has kale, black beans, plaintain, guac, jalapeño, pico de gallo, leeks, crimini mushrooms, raw hot sauce, over rice. 👍🏼👍🏼

The pressure of no tomorrow | At the ripe old age of 21, I've recently been struggling a lot with a fear that time is running out. That opportunities are finite and if I don't use every moment productively and on exciting and memorable experiences., I'm wasting it away and falling behind. We're always told to live like there's no tomorrow but, truth be told, it sets up such an unrealistic expectation of life that I wonder if this philosophy causes more anxiety than we realise. I've talked more on the blog about releasing yourself from that pressure, embracing the slow life and understanding that your time doesn't always have to be THE time. "Use it or lose it!" Yes, this is quite simply the reason why we, young and old, should all take a moment to stretch... a little, daily! Stretching is so important for flexibility, movement and injury prevention. Stretching is helping your joints keep an adequate range of motion and enabling your muscles to do their job more efficiently by increasing the blood flow to those muscles. For those sitting at desks for long periods, it might just be rolling your shoulders backwards for 10 rolls, for those on their feet all day it could be lying on your back , bringing one knee up to your chest and hugging for 10 seconds and do the same with the other leg a few times! Now let's not forget our children! With the all too regular use of 💻, tablets and 📱 the so called "tech-neck" could be relaxed with a few simple chin tucks or neck rotations and of course better posture. Finally, stretching is a great way to relax and aid good sleep 😴 so whatever you do, stretch yourself daily ! 🌟

For the full recipe and it's benefits, click the link in my bio WHAT YOU'LL NEED Serves 2 4 ripe bananas 2 large handfuls of ice cubes 2 tbsp. of good quality chunky peanut butter 250ml of Cashew Milk 1 tbsp. of 100% Canadian maple syrup A pinch of cinnamon Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender CHOCOLATE SAUCE 2 tbsp peanut butter 1 tbsp blackstrap molasses 1 tbsp raw cocoa powder 2 tbsp water Heat all of these ingredients in a sauce pan on low heat until combined. A staple meal here at the Halverson home is a romaine lettuce salad with a variety of veggies and toppings. A lot of salad dressings out there are high in sugar, fat and sodium. "Lite" salad dressings are often filled with fillers. Yuck! One of my favorite salad dressing options is balsamic vinegar with a little bit of olive oil. Super flavorfull and tasty in my opinion.

Kick start your day with a ☀️PERFECT☀️ stretch to open up your body for the day especially after sleeping with your legs curled up all night. Quadriceps Stretch. Lay on your side and reach behind your back and pull your foot towards your back to get a stretch in the front of your hips and thigh. Hold this stretch for 1 minute and then turn over to the other side to stretch your other leg. Featured on @darling.
