Modified @crossfitunionsquare workout for quad destruction  10 front squats 135 lbs 25 burpees over the bar 10 front squat 155 lbs 20 burpees over the bar 10 front squat 185 lbs 15 burpees over the bar 10 front squat 225 lbs 10 burpees over the bar 10 front squat 245 lbs I had to use kilos on a couple sets (hence the 157 and 247 lbs in the video) • Scaling Modify load so you can do the first 2-3 sets of squats unbroken. Last 2 sets should be hard and necessary to break up.  Suck it up and do the burpees. I wrote this on my wall while listening to @jockowillink podcast recently. tonight I inhaled 6 bowls of knock-off honey nut cheerios beneath this mural of discipline. I went to Walgreens for milk and saw cereal treats so I bought them and was the guy behind the cash register farting the whole time he was talking to me? yes. and did he save me $6 with points and tie the plastic bag tight so it didn't rain on my cereal? yes.  so I thank Mr. Jocko for his illuminating words and discussions about the dichotomies in life. missteps are common and necessary on the path of improvement. and Jerry's farts are necessary for Big Savings and Great Service at Walgreens 👍. #getafterit

The fight week emotional purge has begun. I don't personally like to fight from the heart, as it can make you careless, but the heart feeds the mind. The "30 second answer" is not only a business tool that demonstrates your knowledge and preparedness, but is also incredibly effective for shutting down snowballing anxious thoughts and granting your mind the freedom to focus on your goal.  Here is a peek inside my brain during fight week: Fear: She's bigger than me Response: Doesn't matter, jiu jitsu is for the little guys. Example: UFC 1, Royce Gracie.  F: What if she's been training longer/ harder than me? R: Doesn't matter. You want it more. Every second of your existence has led you here. MORE HEART, MORE FIGHT.  F: What if I lose? R: Doesn't matter. You spent six months going through chemo just hoping you'd wake up the next day. Just being able to show up, get on a scale, and put your gi on is a victory.

Hip thrusters: usually do 20lbs, 30s, 40lbs ... today I said if I can do 40 I can do a bar .. then I started to add weight . Did I let it go a little farther than I should have? Yes. I will admit that. Should I be ashamed or hide that?? NO! It happens...I am human, just like everyone else. Going from a rigid structure to basically no rules and no immediate goal in sight is TOUGH! What matters is that I pick myself up and get my head back in the game. I may not have the definition I would like right now and I may have a few more pounds to lose than I planned, but I CAN DO IT! It will take daily discipline and hard work, but I CAN DO IT!!
