I don't always do impromptu front squat sessions but when I do it's always unprepared.  I can confirm Jordan's are definitely not squatting shoes. Far to much cushioning and no support, comfy as hell though. I've not squatted for a while. I kinda miss it. Body feels ready to build up these chicken legs again. Today I did 5 x 5 at 80kg. Next week I'll test my 1RM to see where I'm at, switch round my programming to incorporate them, and away we go again. Caleb during a packed Saturday #WOD.  WOD Thursday, January 19  Strength Overhead Squat Find your 1 rep max.  Please make sure you take care of any mobility you need to before this.  If your #overheadsquat is sketchy but you can get depth without looking too precarious, you will just practice with lighter loads and work 3-5 reps at at time or you can just do a front squat.  BUT if your overhead squat is too sketchy, you will do a #frontsquat instead.  In my opinion, the risk vs. reward for pushing yourself for a #1RM overhead squat when your mobility is not up to par just isn’t worth it.  Continue to work your mobility OUTSIDE of doing maxes and we’ll talk.  Most of you live normal, everyday lives which injuring your shoulder pushing for an overhead #squat max would greatly interfere with.  Should you do overhead squats?  Absolutely!  BUT, only if you CAN.  Workout of the Day For time: 600 meter #run 200 double-unders 80 wall-balls (30/20) 600 meter run  Every time you break either the #doubleunders or the wall-balls, you must switch and work through the other movement.  SO, if I pick my rope up to start my #dubs and get 30 #reps in before I break, whether intentional or not, I must drop my rope and now switch to doing my #wallballs.  Once I break my wall-balls, I will then go back to my double-unders.  Once your double-unders are done, you will no longer have a “penalty” for breaking your wall-balls, just get them done!  The same goes if you get all of your wall-balls done before your double-unders.  If you can’t do double-unders, you will do twice as many single-unders but the same rule applies. On today's squat menu is pause front squats. One of the main reasons I fail in the front squat is because of my knees caving in, something that is a non-issue in back squat. Not sure why this problem occurs in the front rack and not the back rack, but I'll work to drive my knees out and activate the adductors.  50%(135lbs) x 1 x 3 70%(185lbs) 1 x 2 then 4 singles at that same weight.  I was planning to do doubles, but the second rep would have my knees caving in like the last rep in the video, so singles it is. Don't bash me, I know I lost my core in this lift and that face says it all BUT I set a goal for this year for a 175# front squat max and after looking at past PRs I saw that my FS pr was 185# in 11/15. Taking the summer off and then a couple months of transition and coach training had me feeling weak in the front squat department but apparently I underestimated myself! 200# not so pretty front squat but my new goal for the year is 235#! I got over myself and made myself do it... 7kg bar, 3kg Dumbbells 🙈🙈🙈 but I still managed to get a sweat on. Found a decent playlist on YouTube and had a little chuckle to myself when Britneys's Work Bitch came on. Cheers Brit!  It may have been super light and slow but felt good to go through the the movements again....
