Yup he became vegan and became an ulta-athlete🌱 "One night, shortly before I turned 40, I became out of breath from a simple flight of stairs when I was going to bed. I had to pause, I was winded, there was tightening in my chest, sweat on my brow. I feared I was on the precipice of having a heart attack. "Heart disease runs in my family. It's a terrifying ailment. "That was when I knew. It was my second rock bottom. That thrust me into this new phase of trying to find a way to eat and live that would be alignment with my higher self and my healthiest self." After trying a range of diets over the course of the next year, Roll finally came across a wholefood vegan diet. SUPPLIED Rich Roll with his wife, Julie Piatt, and four children. "It changed everything. I had so much energy all of a sudden. I actually wanted to take care of myself. I wanted to exercise," Roll explained. "About 10 to 14 days into eating a completely wholefood plant-based diet, I realised how different it was to everything else I tried. It revitalised me like no other way of eating. I wanted to feel this way all the time." It was then that Roll became more educated about the benefits of a wholefood plant-based diet. He enlisted the help of an old swimming friend, who acted as a mentor to help make the transition so that he could do so responsibly and intelligently with the right tools. As Roll became fitter, stronger and lost 22kg, becoming an ultra-athlete was almost a natural progression. "I wasn't intent on becoming a competitive athlete in my 40s, but with every consecutive week that went by, I was getting fitter and stronger, and I became amazed at the resilience of the human body," Roll said. I was so excited to get started with my new lifting fitness program this morning that I was up before my alarm went off! 😆 ✔️Before pictures (ie "goodbye" pictures) taken ✔️Measurements/weight recorded ✔️Energize, the best pre-workout ever!!, down ✔️And aaaall of the dumbbells I don't have a bench at home so I use a stability ball instead. It does the trick just fine and even ups the ante for my core 😉 This program has 3 phases: Build, Bulk and Shred... which may sound scary if you're a woman, but there's nothing to worry about - we don't get big and bulky (naturally) like men do! Day 1 (Build): Chest/Triceps It was awesome! I was dead after the first two sets, my arms were shaking half way through and I failed to increase my weight on a particular move... I loved every minute of it!

Sandwiches con Mantequilla Nueces y Plátano Ingredientes 2 rebanadas de pan integral de centeno 1 plátano maduro 1 cucharada de Mantequilla de nueces 1 cucharada de crema de cacao casera Un poco de aceite de coco Una pizca de sal rosa Preparación En una sartén precalentada a fuego medio-bajo, colocar el pan y cocinar por ambos lados hasta que esté dorado. Untar por cada lado las rebanadas de pan con la mantequilla de nueces y la crema de cacao, alternando. Cortar el plátano y colocar en la parte superior de la mantequilla de nuez, rociar con sirope y espolvorear con sal marina si se desea. Colocar las mitades juntas. Mantequilla de nueces y crema de cacao casera 200 g de avellanas 200 g de almendras 70g de pacanas Sal rosa Canela al gusto Polvo de cacao crudo azúcar de coco Preparación Precalentar el horno a 150 ° C. Extender los frutos secos en una bandeja de horno y asar durante 20-30 minutos hasta que estén tostadas. Retirar del horno y dejar enfriar completamente. Si está usando pacanas, retirarlas del horno un poco antes que las otras nueces, ya que se cocinan más rápido. Transferir todos los frutos secos enfriados a un procesador de alimentos y triturar durante 1-2 minutos para conseguir que se hagan polvo. I needed a very nourishing meal today, between two vigorous dancing sessions: I blended 4 cups of arugula with a teaspoon of #wheatgrass powder, two medium ripe bananas, a cup of strawberries, two dates, a scoop of @uniconutrition #rawvegan protein and raspberries, cacao nibs, mulberries and coconut flakes (as toppings 😛) 🎼💃🏽👑
Sunday nights are pretty wild over here, I have to say! 😉 I sat down and reviewed the nutrition guide for my new fitness program (I start TOMORROW) and planned and prepped out ALL the food. I'm already in love with this program because 1) I love lifting and 2) I love eating and I have to eat soooo much food on this first phase of the program 😁 Wait, what?! You have to eat more to get better results?! YEAH, man! 😎 Talk about a match made in heaven. Meal plan and prep was followed up with a phone coach with one of my coaches and dearest friends. I love that I've been able to meet so many new beautiful souls, thanks to coaching! Time to get some zzz before the real fun begins! 💪
Well - making the best of this 4+ hour delayed flight and utilizing the airports wifi to watch SHOCKMA! . Gotta love there's a streaming app now for horror films! Thanks Shudder! . Also thankful my headphones have a secondary jack so we can watch together!!

My first dinner on the "Military Diet" consists of Green beans, 1/2 cup of cooked beans (I cooked up garbanzo, kidney, and black beans), an apple, 1/2 a banana, and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream!!!! No seasoning added, so the beans were a little more bland than what I'm used to, but overall a good meal! Also, I have not felt hungry today, in case anyone is wondering if this diet leaves you hungry all 3 days, it does not!!!

Last weekend, I really messed up my foot and ankle after a 3+ mile run 😞 I took over a week off from running but still completed low intensity home #workouts like #Pilates and abs that did not require me to put any pressure on my foot🖤 After spending a long day helping the family on the paint project yesterday, my foot finally felt great😄 So today I was determined to get out there in the sunshine for a short #run to ease back into it🏃🏻♀️☀️ My ankle and foot feels great but I really wish I could run more😒 Hopefully I can continue to ease into running more this week and still run the #GetLucky 14k on 3/11 🍀 It will not be my best time but I'm still determined to run it 🏃🏻♀️So here was my nice short run; took the time to ease into it and focus on my form to prevent injury👍🏻 I also took the time after my run to stretch 😌 something I'm REALLY bad at doing after my runs 😖 #running#runningmotivation#training#fitfam#fitvegan#active#vegangirl#vegansofig#vegansofinstagram

These without a doubt taste 10x better than any nonvegan version I've tried before....🙊 And the best part is that no suffering went into them, no torture or abuse. They are completely cruelty free💗🐮 I have not missed out on ANYTHING since becoming vegan nor do I ever plan to. #govegan
Taking a bite out of Sunday. 🍩🍩🍩 I once thought to represent veganism well you need to eat 100% healthy and have a super fit bod. I thought that your outward appearance was basically a walking billboard for veganism. You know what? There's a million ways to do veganism, and they are all right. You don't have to be anything in particular to be killing it at being vegan. 👉🏻Now I realize it's fine to just be me. I eat donuts AND drink green juice.
