#Repost @disruptafrica with @repostapp ・・・ The black hair market is a huge business estimated to $9 Bilion evry year, but it is somehow often overlooked. Have you ever noticed how Black women, whether in Paris, London, Lagos, or NYC like to experiment with their hair? And how much they are willing to spend for their hair to look flawless? This multi billion business is no longer unnoticed as these 3 women entrepreneurs from Ghana and #Nigeria , have decided to tackle the situation. As the continent’s hair market thrives, Priscilla Hazel (CEO), Esther Olatunde (CTO) and Cassandra Sarfo (CPO) have joined forces to help African women cash in. Their new app, Tress, is a social community app that helps black women around the world find hairstyle inspiration, and high quality stylists and products. providing information about styles, products used, location of the salon where it was done, and how much it cost to buy and fix. Kind of Pinterest meets Instagram for hair. The trio met at the famous Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology in #Accra , #Ghana How did they get the idea from I can hear you ask? Well Cassandra answers: “I saw a hairstyle online I really liked and I wanted to do the exact hairstyle, so I asked around to see if anyone knew the name of the weave, but no-one did. They all gave me different answers. I never got to know the name, and I thought of how often I’d had to ask strangers about their hair, without ever getting the true answer. I talked to Esther and Priscilla about it, and they related to the problem because they faced it often too. We decided to build something we could use to collate information on hair and hairstyles, and Tress was born” @tress_app graduated from the prestigious Ycombinator last summer and has already attracted over 50,000 users worldwide and will seek to generate revenue through targeted advertisements and ecommerce. #disruptafrica#brentmoney#melaninonfleek#blackgirlsmagic#blackgirlsrock#ycombinator#haircare#hair#blackhair#girlboss#entrepreneur#Africa#afropreneur#afrique#melanin#techstartups#leadership#growth#strategy#development#innovation#africanstartups#blackexcellence#braids#cor
