Damn that was fun. Kinda sucks that its over. Learned a ton and was so happy to end the meet with a deadlift PR of 440 lbs (200kg). So much respect for the other competitors. I got alot of motivation for next year. But now its time to switch to bodybuilding for August.
Halfway into the cut. Lost 2kg in 2 weeks and will lose approx 1.5kg more the coming two before nationals next Sunday. Body weight at 71kg now and going to weigh in about 65.9kg. Can never get used to the feeling of having a smaller chest than usual, obviously because a small chest usually doesn't equal a big shirted bench :) My 4 old did however reassure me today by commenting "Dad, you got big tits!". Thanks love :) #powerlifting#benchpress#superkatana#bänkpress#smveckan2017
Had a good gym session earlier today. Don't know if it was my new chucks or the pizza from yesterday. 😅 Was able to Increase weight on my working sets. Steadily reaching my goal of 225 working set bench press and a 400 pound deadlift. Quick wprkout: bench 185x5 195x5 200x5x5 deadlift 255 x5x5x3x3 #benchpress#deadlifts#pushingweight
#SquatDayEpisodeIX#ReturnOfTheLeggings Squats didn't really go as well as I'd hoped with @philcole_ tonight but hey, I got my top set of 5 and managed all my assistance work so it can't have been too bad either. Just don't think I like sets of 5. My technique and comfort with squatting always seems better on my other weeks, but I just need to keep trying to improve.
Who doesn't love those low bar squat kisses? During this period of recovery from my shoulder injury I'm really focusing on my squat. Conveniently enough that was what I needed to focus on anyways, now I'm just forced to do it. STAY POSITIVE!
After a long 2 weeks of recovering from bronchitis, I officially have gained a little over 10 lbs since October and consistently kept it. Come March I should be more then ready to test @varsityhouse . Been working and busting my ass too hard now to fail this time. Never posted my tattoo either but theres a long meaning behind it. For all of you who do know, that is Durotan. He was a leader and did/gave everything to his family and clan. A lot of people today expect for things to just happen over night. Well, they dont. Work hard for what you want and it will come. No one can stop you besides yourself. No one will stop me from that 600 pull besides myself. I've waited 24 years for this. 24 years it has taken me to build. Many know I was one of the smallest kids in my high school class but heart goes a long way. What ever you want, make it happen and if you dont...shame on you. Have a blessed Sunday.
It's always interesting comparing the angle of the torso with different variations of the squat. . Also just as interesting is how the hip and knee 'moment arms' can change with across the front squat, high bar and low bar squat. . A 'moment arm' can be defined as the distance between a joint axis and the line of force acting on it. . The changes to the lengths of hip moment arm (blue lines) and knee moment arm (green lines) matter, because the longer a moment arm is, the more force needs to be generated by the muscles around that joint. . With the front squat, the knee moment arm is substantially longer than the hip moment arm, so the quads (knee extensors) have to work harder than the glutes and lower back muscles (hip extensors). This is why the the front squat is commonly associated with being a 'quad dominant' movement, requiring less from the glutes and lower back. . On almost the opposite end of the spectrum is the low bar squat. The hip moment arm is now significantly longer than that of the knee moment arm. For this reason, the low bar squat is regularly known as being 'hip dominant'. It places higher demands on the posterior chain, in particular, the glutes, as well as the lower back. . #goheavyorgofkyourself
Accidentally PB'd on my warm up set of bench this morning!! Why is this so important to me??? I always doubt my own ability & worthiness . Growing up with a learning disability i always felt like i was "behind everyone else", that i was dumb, that success was not on the cards for me. I was only diagnosed with dyslexia in high school which is very late to be picking it up, usually it's picked up very early in primary school with treatment started early on. So since i had "flown under the radar" for so long i though i was dumb and it was ingrained in me that I couldn't do anything without failing. With treatment i slowly learnt that i was not dumb, I just learn't in a different way to other people. But the belief in myself that i was dumb, not worthy was so ingrained in me and a very hard process to change. To this day I still get a flashes of that belief creeping in but I recognize it & acknowledge that it's no longer true and send it packing. It's not easy but I wont let it eat me up anymore. If I can overcome it so can u!! The weights room has taught me I can set goals & I can achieve them. Happy Monday ppl ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻 #instafit#dyslexia#bodybuilding#myhappyplace#muscle#chicksthatlift#belief#powerlifting#nutritionwarehouse#nwarmy#benchpress#lift#gains#liftheavy#trainhardfeelgood#weights#iamnotdumb#strength#stronggirls
Was suppose to do 6x3 back squats at 495 but hip flexors wouldnt allow that so I did front squats . Maybe one day I'll be able to peak again without all these little ticky tacky injuries . On the bright side my new all time max on front squats I can do for 3. Going to drop front squats from training and cut squats for the rest of the week and maybe that'll help me hang on for another month. Front squats 425-3, 2, 1, 1. 315-5, 3, 3. Bench 365lbs 6x3.
