When you put in the work consistently, I promise you it will pay off. I HATED working out. I pretty much avoided it at all costs, it made me feel insecure and "less than". I had to made my journey more personal than my outward appearance. So I started doing bbg with my close friends in my backyard. It became my personal therapy hour. It turned into "me time" where I found myself again. I found self love, I found self acceptance and I found the ability to LOVE working out. Now, I can't imagine NOT loving it. It gives me SO much more than just feeling bomb in a tight dress *hair flip*. #suitablysophie7

Not happy at all!! 3 years since I had my BronchoThermoplasty surgery for my #asthma and I feel like I've been doing great. No hospitalisation, no emergency room, no awful attacks... completely controlled asthma with the use of daily inhalers and monthly injections.  I went for my routine check on lung capacity and lung #health etc... and I'm down from 51% to 42% of predicted and #LUNG AGE OF A 99 YEAR OLD!!!! Well, shit! No wonder I'm struggling to get below a 9 min/mile over 3 miles!! This has really put a downer on me... but....I'm going to try my hardest to bring that number down and work on getting back up to 50% .. BRING ON THE #CARDIO!!

Last week, I began the Abs After Babies program by @drkellyfitmomof4 and so far it's been great!  I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to work on their core. A long meeting at the school for my youngest son, then a hot lunch date with my partner (we had yum chaπŸ™ŠπŸ€€) meant today became my rest day. How's everyone going with this final week of the #12weekchallenge ? I must say I'm excited about going back to BBG week 65, at the end of this week. I miss the strength training, and I can tell you that I WILL NOT miss all that jumping around that BBG 1, and to a lesser extent, BBG 2, is just FULL of 😷.

Feeling good pretty pleased with these lower body gains right now. What did I change?  I'm eating in a calorie surplus instead of a calorie deficit, loving all of the extra food I am getting to eat. I'm lifting weights, I'm training consistently, I'm GAINING WEIGHT, gaining muscle and enjoying what I'm doing, which is quite honestly the most important part. My order from @nourishedlife just arrived. I stopped wearing deodorant when I was pregnant because I was worried about the chemicals from the clinical strength deodorant I had been using. Luckily for those around me I wasn't doing much exercise and I guess my hormones changed my body because I didn't need to use deodorant. Fast forward to when Maya was born and my hormones were changing again and my milk was coming in and I had the worst BO of my life! I bought some 'natural' deodorants from the chemist but they didn't do the trick. I've had my eye on @blackchickenremedies Axilla deodorant paste for awhile but since using doTERRA I have been thinking about buying their deodorant or even making my own using the ever popular @theinspiredlittlepot recipe. Then my period came back and I started researching menstrual cups for a safer more natural alternative and the @jujumenstrualcup kept coming up tops. When I finally placed my order I was happy to get a free bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste for Maya. With her bottom chompers and new ones coming up top we are trying to get into a good habit with brushing her teeth. She hates the baby toothbrush we have and isn't a fan of a wet cloth so here's hoping the soft bristles of the @grantsofaustralia bamboo toothbrush are a winner 😁 and if you read through to the bottom thank you. During and after a workout I feel awesome and a but after when I'm getting ready to go out with friends I get a bit down. I'm still not fitting into my pre pregnancy clothes... It's for sure a bummer but I have to keep reminding myself​ that it Takes TIME! Amen to that...back to doing #bbgweek3 after almost a year off. I injured my shoulder twice so i decided to focus on nutrition for a while and did 3 rounds of #whole30, best decision ever! I totally changed my relationship with food and I am in total control,  no more binging or starving myself, just listenning to my body and fuelling it with the best food for its needs. Also lost 6kg in the process and i have tons of energy. My shoulders are still playing up a bit so i have to modify the workouts but it's ok , i know it'll take time. So excited to join my #bbgsisters in this adventure!

Let's talk about plantain chips... for all my whole30 peeps, @whole30 announced this week that my favorite-in-the-whole-world Trader Joe's plantain chips are no longer whole30 compliant. Meaning, even though all the ingredients are clean, you can't eat them if you're doing a whole30 round anymore.  Does this make me mad? No. Sad? Kinda.  Honestly, these aren't a food without breaks for me. I have a handful usually with salads or soup for a crunch. I've never snacked on them when I'm bored (mostly because I'd rather have an rxbar or larabar or fruit...πŸ™ˆ). That being sad, I'm such a rule follower that I don't think I'll be including them if I ever do another real, full, whole30 round. But for now and my #lifeafterwhole30 I'm definitely enjoying them πŸ‘  I enjoyed reading the comments and debate on my last post about plantain chips. What do you think about the change? Pissed? Scale not budging. Measurements not changing. Last Progress pics looked the same to me. But my mind is happy, my life feels full, and I just keep doing active things that I enjoy. Suddenly- my body seems to be catching up. Took measurements and I'm down 3 inches total- 1inch waist/hips/chest. I still have a net wt gain since initially starting- but who cares about that anyway πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Thanks @kayla_itsines for curating this amazing community πŸ’•πŸ’•

#Repost @laughlovelivebbg ・・・ Transformation Tuesday - a note to those ladies over 40 ❀ Before starting BBG I had honestly given up hope that I would get back to my pre-pregnancy weight after having a baby at 42.  The fact is as we age our bodies do change....we naturally lose lean muscle mass (unless we weight train) which can lead to a reduced metabolism (can't eat as much😏), on average our body fat also increases by as much as 30% by the time we reach menopause πŸ™, and our hormones play havoc with our weight loss goals as estrogen also starts to decline which leads to an increase in cortisol and insulin, the hormones we do not want too much of, as they are the ones that contribute to us accumulating fat around our bellies 😩. Add to this issues with sleep and insomnia, which affect our energy levels, increase our stress and thus more production of cortisol levels 😀, losing weight can be a real struggle. I'm here to say it's possible. I'm not done yet but I really believe with the right exercise and nutrition we can beat the odds! If you're over 40 like me I strongly suggest you research how hormones play a significant part in your weight loss journey, and with the right nutrition and exercise you can beat the middle age spread πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Yep, physical changes aplenty here and I'm proud of myself for it!  In 1994 I started running, somewhere in the early 2000s I started eating healthy and at some point between the two, I gave up playing the flute. I've made great physical changes over the years! The changes you don't see, the ones between my ears, don't show in these #transformationtuesday photos though. β€’ Somewhere along the line I stopped the insanity (What ever happened to Susan Powter? Do she and Richard Simmons hang out?). I started believing in myself. I stopped trying to look like someone else; someone with a different body shape and smaller nose. πŸ˜‰ I stopped having meltdowns over clothes not fitting and calling out sick from school or work because I was so unraveled about it. I stopped believing a certain number on the scale or on the tag of my pants would be end goals. I stopped believing in quick fixes like supplements, wraps and creams. β€’ In 1994 I had no idea I'd be capable of rock climbing 100s of feet off the deck, hike 14,000 foot mountains or find being 3 feet off the ground on my bike during a triathlon more terrifying than the others. I didn't know I was capable of being healthy and fit without beating myself up mentally over it. β€’ So yes, I've lost weight, gained muscle and feel great. I've also built self-confidence, mental fortitude and, recently, expanded my comfort zone to include helping others with this process. β€’ On this Transformation Tuesday, remember ALL the changes you're making on this fitness journey and reach over your shoulder and pat yourself on the back for them! πŸ’•

Well, unfortunately there's no one move you can do just to get abs. You'll have to work out your entire body and improve your eating habits. There really is NO quick fix guys, and I'd be very suspicious of any product or program claiming to be one. What I love about investing in our own health and fitness the right way is that effort is directly proportional to the benefits. The BETTER you take care of yourself, the happier and stronger you'll be. Taking good care of yourself means eating well, not starving. It means working out properly and in moderation, not killing yourself with over exercise. It's about loving your body in all its uniqueness, but loving your body means treating it right - not feeding it crap, depriving it of sleep or abusing it. Find that balance and your body will thank you for it. πŸ™πŸ» Plus, your abs will be so happy, they'll finally show up to the party πŸ˜‰

Your mind's at ease and you're not constantly looking over your shoulder, checking to see if there are creepers lurking in the bushes 🌿getting all ready to pounce on you. Stay way rapeadists 🚷Besides, nobody gonna mess with me. I'm extremely badass. My evening run mantra for tonight was #SmallButFirerce

Happy #transformationtuesday πŸ’ͺ🏼✌🏻this is my first time posting a transformation picture so it's a little bit scary but I think it's important to share progress to 1. Keep myself accountable but also 2. to help inspire other people. I know seeing all the amazing transformation photos from the ig fitness community was a big motivation for me to really get my butt in gear! There isn't a huge physical difference in these photos but inside, omg I'm like a whole new person! Going from a very unhealthy mindset in which I hated my body and would regularly restrict what I ate for long periods of time led to me staying slim but being so tired and drained constantly! When I decided to make a change I was scared and intimidated by the amount of food suggested by Kaylas BBG guide but I went with it and wow am I glad I did! I don't ever weigh myself anymore and go instead by what I see and more importantly how I feel inside! Abs barely there today and I'm flexing so hard my back hurt haha. But I'm feeling great after a really strenuous arm workout. I did a lot of super sets as well as a variety of push ups and a couple of negative pull ups. Finished off with hiit/LISS. I can do about 3 chin ups and half a wide pull up so I'm going to be working on my upper body strength until summer. Anyone have any great workouts to enhance your pull up ability? Should I focus on back, biceps, both? Have an amazing Tuesday fitfam!
