Day6: RESPECT 🙏🙏 something that I have been taught to practise since childhood. As a kid it was only restricted to teachers, elders and God. So we respected our teachers, our coaches, our parents and grand parents, we respected our elder sibling. But as I grew up ESP after yoga happened I realised respect is not a thing "to practise or do" to your elders, respect is not a practise of social stratification . Respect is so much more than that. It means acknowledging, it means admiration, it means humbleness and humility, it means pride and honour. As I grew up I started respecting my friends, the night watch man for the honest labour he puts in at the wee hours of the night while we lay asleep in our cosy beds. I stared to respect myself for who Iam and for the choices I'v made, I respect my brother not cus he is elder to me but because of the stands he has taken in his life and no matter how hard he was shaken his faith and stance didn't shake , i respect my parents not because they are my parents and not because we were taught to respect them; but because of the realisations that I have had regarding how hard they work(ed) for us, of the fights they have fought for our sake, for the sacrifices they have made to keep us well fed, warm and happy, I said respect means pride and honour, because when I see my country men ESP the army Working hard in the cold regions of the border to keep us safe I feel proud of them and I honestly respect the army men and their family for the sacrifices and service they perform for the country. I respect God not because of the mysticism and awe and wonder and the fascinating stories I hear of them, but because God is my sanctuary. My solace, my strength and my friend in times of need. I respect God not because they are powerful and supreme being but because of the fact that when I pray to them they move me and gives me hope and the strength to carry on. I FEEL the urge to respect God. Respect cannot the forced on you, you need to feel it. And U can't ask to be respected. You need to earn it. I respect my practice and my mat for showing me the wonders & power of perseverance. Im in child's pose bowing down as a symbol of respect.
Day6: today I plant the seed of appreciation and success... In ever situation no matter how dire it may seem there is always a winning moment or a positive note to it. Today i want to plant the seed of success aka seed of optimistic approach to life. I want to make sure that everyday whatever I do and whatever situation Iam in, I want to find that silver lining and appreciate it. So what if I couldn't do a handstand? Atleast I tried and practise never goes to waste. So what if I didn't get those super good grades, ATLEAST i passed with good grades to make life work, so what if Iam shit broke to go for a trip, atleast I have a house and a roof and warm clothes and hot food in front of me. We always complain, it's time to plant the seed of appreciation and success. If you appreciate your situation and current state i call it a success. Success is not always a"winning moment" it is actually a moment in your day when you have a smile on your face while you are doing what U R doing. Happiness is success, it's all related if you think of it. Day5: For my 5th day I want to pant a seed (of resolution)and that is the seed of BREATH.. Yes as lame and silly it may sound, pause for a moment and notice your breathing pattern, are you holding your breath while writing or reading this? Are you breathing properly while you are combing your hair??? I noticed that I hold my breath when I'm in a stressful situation, I don't breathe deeply and sometimes Iam holding my breath while I'm thinking of something 🙈🙈 so today and for the rest of the year Iam going to pay attention to how i breathe and correct myself when Iam not breathing properly. Today's seed is in resonance with the pose because my pigeon takes flight (a lame as d flight might look lol) only if I focus on my breathing. I need to breathe evenly and normally when Iam extending that left leg. If I hold my breath or take shallow breaths i end up either as a perched pigeon or my pigeon never flies. So breathing is a very important tool in life. Day5: LET IT GO... We either hold onto so many things in life or we are gripped by so many things we end up feeling tied down and suffocated or a bit down in the sorrows🙈🙈 however we can always ALWAYS try to let it go... How you ask?? Well I like to sit in a quite i place and take deep deep deep breaths and as I exhale hard I say to myself to let go of the anger, the ego, the grudge and the pain, I pray to God to give me the strength to help me let go of the all the fear that has been gripping me for so long, little by little I ask God to give me the strength to fight and win. We can't let go of all the things that's been caged in me and all the things that are caging me but by accepting acknowledging and gathering the guts to face them we can let it go out of our system. Just remember that holding things within us will result in us hurting all the time. Holding grudges won't better your life, if you want a peace of mind you need to learn to let go of all the things that don't help you grow into a beautiful flower. For today I comfortably sit after my practise and lean back and take deep breaths and as I exhale I tell myself to let go of the unnecessary emotions and feeling that are brining negativity in me. Day4: TO LIFT OTHERS❤️❤️❤️ its very common for us to feel the need to feel important, appreciated and to feel the need to not lift others but only lift yourself. I really like the saying "we rise by lifting others' because when we appreciate others and help lift them up its a sign of breaking down your ego, letting go of the "Iam the important person in the room" and simply being humble and helping each other make it though the finish line. We are a social being and we live in communities. We can succeeded and solve problems together as one, we need to see the bigger picture of peace and harmony and throw away the "Iam the superior race/person" practise. We as a country or a community will rise and move ahead if and only if all of us do away with our selfish self-centred egotistic needs and desires and selflessly love one another as a community and work for its peace and progress. I chose a flying pigeon because it's a perfect example of lifting others. This is a challenging pose and if you get frustrated and egoistic in this pose you will never progress in it. I had to do away with expectations and egoistic moments and had to go with the flow. I let my body do what it could instead of saying "no you gotta do it today and nail it cus so and so could do it within a week" I honoured my body by backing out of it when I felt weak, i didn't force it. And whenever I could i always shared my experience with those who wanted or wants to learn. And others also shared their tips and tricks and that way all of us are learning how to fly the pigeon and indirectly lifting each other. I love my IG yoga community because all of us are helping each other grow and progress on and off the mat. And when you look at the bigger picture we have become one big harmonised bird which is about to lift off and soar. Never let the negativity and ego consume you. Never severe the bonds of friendship because of ego collision, alway stay humble and help lift each other ... And NEVER EVER EVER EVER put others down to feel superior... One of the aforementioned 9 times out of 10 that I fall out of dancer's pose. Falling is good. When you are falling you know you're near your edge.
