Active rest day but it's too cold outside for a walk with the babe so a leisurely row it is! Rest days don't mean sitting on the couch and binge watching 'The Office' for the 364th time(which totally happened last night btw 😬). Active rest days means letting your muscles rest and recover but still moving to oxygenate that lactic acid and prevent soreness. What's on your workout calendar for today?! I did not make it into the gym for shoulders today. Instead I did some laundry, made dinner, and added another cardio session. We'll call this an active rest day and hit the gym tomorrow. . I don't buy into that "never miss a Monday" crap -- if I need a rest day I need a rest day. Besides, it's not Monday that gets me motivated...I'm motivated by the results, the way I feel and the way it makes me feel, and that doesn't have squat to do with being Monday...just saying... . Sunday Funday for our family was spent having a lovely brunch at the Saw Mill Cafe to celebrate a second successful round of chemotherapy for grandma and four months old baby girl. Then home for family nap time, though some of us got more sleep than others as the lils weren't into resting. Thankfully daddy was alright with taking point on them. Then some MMA Active Recovery for me which was more active and less recovery than I'd have liked but I got it done and then on to working on dinner while having some shakeology. Some butternut squash soup and tuna melts were well received by all before some little girl bath time and more relaxing for the adults. Now this is the kind of day I need in my life more often.
It's only taken me 40+years of my existence to try and find a pizza substitute! When its one of your trigger foods, I don't make it too often. So tonight I decided to try making a Flatout pizza flatbread- and it was delicious, filling, and I don't feel too guilty. I have to work on the amount of sauce and cheese, but cooking it until crisp made it worth the wait! I'm super excited to finally have an alternative. I didn't take today off as active rest- increased to a 12.5 dumbells for deadlifts and step ups in my circuit- so I could enjoy my new pizza!! • when there was a tan 💁🏿 rest-day ended up being pretty active, but no heavy loads or CNS-exhausting stuff 😌 woke up at 7am hungry despite all the food from yesterday (#noregrets 🤰🏽), got about 3h of sleep only (and omg my legs were so sore last night, even worse today) 🙄 did banded stair-master first (20min=dead), then some kb swings, leg raises for core, tried a kick back machine, some banded hip mobility, crunches (weighted on cables & with Swiss ball), and more etc. & of course stretching and lax-ball torturing 💁🏽 moved to another place in the afternoon, now some groceries & getting ready for tmrw 😊 hope your weekend's been great!💕
