"The OPEX crew is on now!" quipped @hookgripdreams as she slid past @nazhariaschifra and I warming up today. Training with someone else on an individual program is perhaps one of the most rewarding things because you see them attack what they need to improve in a linear, progressive way and not pull things out of a hat. You see very tangible progress and on days like today, you celebrate that together. I've been working on barbell cycling alongside my absolute strength numbers and today I hit a 175kg back squat with a 3 second descent, just 7kg off my max. On Monday I managed to string together 5 power snatches at 90kg, or my 1 rep max power snatch at the start of this cycle 10 months ago. I then sat back and watched Naz bawl her eyes out as she hit her monstrous clean PR. Thank you for doing what you do @jamestayloropex @opexfitness What a time for this harvest! Often the mind gives up before the body does. Sometimes all you need to do is just focus on your breath... the life giving force that calms and centres you. • Deload week..skill, strength then a finisher wod. 400m sled push at 160kg (2xbw), followed by a 400m farmers carry with 2 x 32kg kettlebells. My strategy? Focus on 1 breath at a time, 1 little milestone at a time ..and all the while I thought about one of my inspirations @davidgoggins ..I asked myself 'what would David do?'. • Got it done in the end 👌
One of the sweetest revelations over this year of training is how much my barbell efficiency has increased from all the posterior chain strengthening and single leg work we've been doing in training. All the basic, structural work has translated into stronger parts of a better whole. I've been seeing increases in absolute power in my snatches and cleans for a single repetition recently, but today's session called for a 5 rep touch and go power clean. I built up to 110kg (shown here) and stopped with more in the tank because I have a stupid flu and because this is what I used to power clean for 2 single reps before losing power in the drive. Don't shy away from accessory work and the boring tempo/stay-activated easy movements. Flour, eggs, milk and butter are boring by themselves but take one out and you get substandard pancakes. ☝️ #wisdom#opexfit#iamopex#forgedinTP#oly#clean @opexfitness
Lessons from today's AMRAP. • 1. Break it down and focus on one milestone at a time - Whether it's 100 thrusters, running a marathon, doing an ultra, getting off the couch, rehabilitating from an injury. Set micro goals, focus on little wins. 1 min, 1km, 1 rep at a time, it's the sum of all small repeated efforts that make big victories. . 2. Have a buddy in your journey - it's always nice to have someone by your side, to cheer you on, to pick you up, to challenge you. • Big session with supertrooper @alexandra.zahra. Thank you for the motivation 💪👌 • WOD:. 1200m row. 8 x wall walks. 100m bear crawl. 40 x double unders. 30 cal airdyne. 45 sec Sorensen hold. 8 ground to overshoulder deadballs 30kg. 5m rope climb. 75 min AMRAP. • Thanks coach @dyl.goddard fun only after it's done👍.
